The Instagram rules MynaDM enforces for you
MynaDM runs entirely on Meta's official Instagram Platform API, which comes with rules. We enforce all of them automatically — this page just explains what you'll see.
The 7-day private reply
A comment lets us send that commenter one private reply, within 7 days. That's the DM your automation sends. One per comment is a hard platform rule — if the same person comments twice, they can get two DMs; one comment never gets two.
The 24-hour conversation window
Once someone messages you back (or taps a button in your DM), a 24-hour conversation window opens, and follow-ups can ride in it. Outside the window, sends are skipped — you'll see "skipped: window" in the delivery log rather than a risky send.
Rate limits
Instagram caps outbound messages per hour per account. When a reel goes viral, MynaDM queues everything above the cap and drains the queue at the allowed pace. The dashboard shows the queue depth and an honest ETA. Nothing is dropped; nothing is sent faster than Instagram allows.
The 80-character image rule
DMs that include an image are capped at 80 characters of text by Instagram. The composer counts this for you and won't let a send violate it.
What this means for you
You never have to think about any of this. Every send is checked against quota, window, and rate limit — in that order — before Instagram is contacted. When something is skipped, the log tells you which rule applied. That's the whole safety model: the rules are enforced in code, not in promises.
